Cyber fraud

Law firms and their clients are targets for cyber fraud including email compromise, payment redirection fraud and ransomware attack.

We strongly recommend that to minimise the risk of cyber fraud you do not act on any communication from Hayton Kosky Lawyers that provides you with account details into which you should transfer money without first contacting us on 03 9557 3355 and confirming its authenticity.

Before transferring money always call or visit the person handling your file or another known contact at the firm to verify you or we have the correct account details.

Hayton Kosky does not have nor operate a Solicitors Trust Account. Do not respond to any request to transfer funds to our “Trust Account“.  Beware: It will, unfortunately, be a hoax and a scam. If you do get such a request to transfer your funds to “our trust account” report this immediately to Brett Hayton Principal. Secondly, time is of the essence. If you do make a transfer from what is a fraudulent request, immediately contact your bank to stop the Transfer. We will never request you to transfer funds to “our trust account” because we do not own or operate a Solicitors Trust Account. Any loss incurred by the sender is not the responsibility of Hayton Kosky Lawyers.
